Major news update!

09/28/06:
Okay, so it has been months and months since I last updated this site and alot of things have happened in the band (our myspace site has been up to date though). First off, welcome to our newest member..... Chris Dann on drums! Chris joined the band a couple of months ago after his life's blood, Bled, broke up due to their guitarist quitting on the eve of a tour. Thier misfortune is our luck as Chris has taken the bull by the horns and brought Mucus to a whole new level of professionalism. We are playing alot more gigs in front of alot more people and the buzz has been incredible! Not to mention the band is tighter and faster than it's ever been! We plan on recording a 3 song promo in October and will begin recording our next full length after the start of the new year. Be on the lookout as we will be regularly updating both our websites (this one and myspace) now that there are a ton of things going down in the near future.

Also, I took over the vocal duties when Josh left the band back in May. Since Chris was lead vocalist for Bled he will be doing lead on a few songs now and as always Scoob and Jon provide their gutteral death jabs when needed. Shortly after that we asked Joe to leave the band due to his inability to commit to the band full time (ok, so really 10-15 hours a week). We then had a breif stint w/ Dustin Johnson on drums.

Anyway, that's what has been keeping us busy trying to stay sane the last 9 months. Man am I glad we can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Who cares if it's red and lustful pleasures await....... muuuuuuaaaaahahahahahahahaha

That's all metal heads....... keep bangin' and don't forget.......

We finally found a new guitarist!

12/29/05:
Well, after months of searching we've found the latest and hopefully the last member of the band. We want to welcome Scoobie Creamer on guitar. He has played in local bands Kill Devil Hill, Drop Seven, The Council, and Girth. Scoobie will help take the band to the next level as he is well versed in music theory and has a style that totally fits and complements the current line up. Scoobie's debut show with the band is tonight at The Boardwalk in Sacramento to please come out and show your support! Also, be on the lookout in the near future for updates in the pics section.

Working our asses off..... and playing shows!

10/25/05:
Ok, so not alot of new info. We've played some killer shows the past few months and are starting to make a bit of a name for ourselves. We've got a bunch of shows booked and in the works. We are also working on a bunch of new material that will appear on the next full length CD. We are already playing much of it live so come check out a show, buy a CD, and tells us if you like the new shit! Of course, we are still on the hunt for a second guitarist so as always, hit us up if you know anyone.

Well, that's it for now........ keep it metal and we'll see ya out there at the shows!

Shows coming up, congrats to Jared, the search goes on

7/23/05:
Alright, so it's been a few months since we checked in but we've been hard at work getting ready for our first shows of the year. Check out the shows page as we have 3 shows booked and more to come in the near future.

Congradulations goes out to Jared Deaver and his family. Since he joined the band he's gotten married, taken two jobs, been accepted to the police academy and had a kid! No wonder we haven't seen him in three months! Seriously though, we are very happy for Jared but sad at the same time for his family commitments have left him no time to contribute to the band. His legacy in the brief time he was with us is in the form of one of our best new songs which you'll be hearing at our live shows. "Self Inflicted Decapitation" is the title so be on the lookout! So our search for a killer second guitarist continues. If you or anyone you know want's to try out. Drop us a line.

Oh, and for those of you wanting to pick up a copy of the CD Shades Below, you can find it at any Sacramento area Dimple Records. We'll soon be hitting the Bay Area stores so keep an eye out for info regarding a store near you!

Well, that's it for now........ keep it metal and we'll see ya out there in '05!

The Final Piece of the Puzzle!

3/28/05:
Well, after many auditions we finally have found the last member to round out the new Mucus lineup. Veteran death metal guitarist Jared Deaver (ex-Severed Savior, ex-Deeds Of Flesh) has decided to join the band. Jared and Tom have know each other for many years and have jammed in a couple of other projects together so Jared coming on board will be a natural fit. Plus he brings a more technical writing style that's sure to complement what the band is already doing and send the new material in an even more intense direction. For those of you keeping score, here is the current (and hopefully final) lineup:

Josh Ditri - vocals
Joe Lopresti - drums
Jon Borrmann - bass
Jared Deaver - guitar
Tom Persons - guitar

3/28/05:

As a result we'll only be offering a song or two off the new CD for download on the mp3s page, but the demo material will still be available. Stay tuned for more news on our new record deal. Update From The Basement!

12/23/03:
Wow.....so much has happened in the last 6 months. I have a new baby girl named Autumn Lee Persons born on July 2nd, 2003 and she has been taking up the majority of my time. However, I have been able to squeeze in recording session for the new Mucus full length which is WAY!!!! overdue. Never fear though, I've got vocals to lay down on just a few more songs before we go into post production and mastering. I'm hoping to be done by the end of January and I should have some new MP3s posted on the site in the next couple of weeks! In the meantime I've started a redesign of the web site and it will be rolled out in multiple phases over the next year or so. Look for the links page and the guestbook to be back up and running again soon! Also, all you local metalheads should start to see me at more shows in 2004..... I'm coming out of hibernation! I took a much needed break over the last year and a half but now with so much going on, both in the scene and for me personally, I want to get back into it! Oh, and everyone needs to check out my new band Excarnum. We do all instrumental, extremely technical death metal and I know all you Mucus fans will get a kick out of it, so go download the MP3s from our website!

Stay Sick!!............. Tom

Update From The Basement!

6/17/03:
Wassup metalheads!! Yeah it's been awhile since I checked in and alot has happened in the last 8 months or so. The new Mucus CD is pretty much complete and will be released by the end of the summer. Sorry for the delay's but with my first kid on the way I've been hella busy. Plus the website was down for awhile so I'm sure some of you may have thought we were gone forever. Not so!! I plan to post a few new tracks from the upcoming CD on mp3.com sometime in July so keep your eyes and ears peeled. You may be wondering what's going on with the band in general..... well I hate to say it but I doubt you'll be seeing a live Mucus show anytime in the near future. My search for decent musicians has been difficult as I am really demanding about the type of people I want to jam with. The bottom line is there are just too few really talented and dedicated metal musicians in the Bay Area and the ones that are around want to tour and make the band their full time job. That would have been really cool for me about 10 years ago, but these days I'm looking for a local project that wants to pump out new music on CD about once a year. I have a killer job at Digidesign (yes the makers of ProTools for those of you in the know) and aren't willing to deal with life on the road living out of the back of a van just to play in front of 100 people a night. With the proliferation of the internet it's just not necessary to do that anymore to get your music heard. Especially when your offering it for free! Yep, that's right I said FREE.... all the new Mucus songs will be available for free download on the internet. However, it will cost you for an actual copy of the CD since it does cost money for duplication and packaging. Anyway, check back soon for more info on the new CD "Shades Below" and be on the lookout for some artwork that I'll be posting in the next couple of weeks (provided my baby girl doesn't decide to show up before then!).

Stay Sick!!............. Tom

Update From The Basement!

12/29/02:
The long awaited return of Mucus Membrane! It's been more than a year since our last show... the 2001 Milwukee Metalfest, but after a short break to try out other musical ideas and avenues we have come back full force to destroy the underground once again. Things looked bleak at this time last year with Jeff, Rob, and Val leaving the band shortly after the Metalfest debacle. This, more than any other reason led to the temporary demise of Mucus. With Tom joining Val briefly in his new project it looked as though Mucus might not reach it's full potential, or have a very bright future. However, once again Tom was drawn back to this addiction which is Mucus Membrane. Tom has taken the last two years of new material he has written and come up with 11 new songs which will be combined with the 4 songs from the "Defile the Weak" demo to comprise the long awaited Mucus full length "Shades Below" to be released in spring 2003.  Tom is currently in the studio tracking the CD with a few "guest" musicians and friends while solidifying the new line up. So if you know any grinding drummers out there, get 'em in touch with us..... we're now based in Sacramento, Ca.
